Happy Goat Band Pic

Third generation Hillbilly Royalty and founder of Nashville alternative rock band Uncle Slim, Johnny Hammer has teamed up with Happy and Goat formerly members of Mississippi southern rock band Southern Bred. “I’m the Man And You Aint” was the first song recorded in Nashville, TN at the Junction Recording Studio. Inspired by writing sessions, the three have formed the Happy Goat Band and their first project entitled "HAMMERBILLY". It's countryfide raw rootsy southern alternative rock blend of rhythm and melodies, steeped in the traditions of country, folk, and neo-hillbilly lyrics. The result is 100 proof goat buttin', mule kickin', happy gettin' renditions that will crank your mind. The boys are chompin' at the bit to get out and bring their own brand of Southern Alternative Country Rock Music to your town.

Johnny Hammer / Happy Goat Band

JOHNNY HAMMER - Guitar / Lead Vocals - Hammer being the grandson of the "Queen of Country Music" Kitty Wells and Country Music pioneer Johnnie Wright understandably gets a lot of his influence from his roots. His mother Sue (along with being a recording artist) was also a songwriter (staff writer with Roger Miller, Mel Tillis and others for Cedarwood publishing company in Nashville at the age of 17). Hammer's dad while working at Record World (later Music City News, Gibson Guitars, NARAS Board member, and started what is now called the Flame Worthy Awards), gave Johnny great opportunities to listen to advance copies of all the hit records in all genres and meeting these artists backstage at concerts. Also, being in the industry gave him a chance to watch the great producers of the time such as Owen Bradley. Starting in the business at age 5, he got to see the greats of Country Music, while honing his skills to the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elton John, the Who, Steely Dan, Charlie Daniels, Sex Pistols and Gino Vanelli. So what you get is a very diverse musical base, which comes out through his original music. Hard drivin' rhythms, intricate melodies and counter melodies, with the old fashion story telling lyrics that really mean something and conjure up emotion.

Happy of the Happy Goat Band

HAPPY - Bass / Vocals - the Man of Mystery from parts unknown....... However you may have recognized HAPPY from some of his movie appearances-Chasing the White Dragon, The System Within, American Outlaws and voice over for Creature Comforts (Aardmore the hamster). Happy rocks the stage and entertains the masses who are brave enough to witness. Not only a very memoriable character but he is truly a rocker that you will never forget. Happy's experiences through life and behind the camera lens are making him a prolific songwriter.

Happy's quote sums him up pretty well......
HAPPY CAN NOT AND WILL NOT CUT THE CLOTH OF HIS CONVICTIONS TO FIT THE PATTERN OF MEDIOCRITY...

Goat of the Happy Goat Band

GOAT - Lead Guitar / Vocals -Goat is a second generation music performer. His mom, Jo Miller of the Miller Sisters, performed across the country and were regular members of the Louisiana Hay Ride. Goat's mom was also recording records at Sun records the same time Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash were busting it wide open. It's no guess where Goat got his blend of Country, Rock, Rhytm and Blues. His signature virtuoso lead lines are a distinctive and finite part of the Happy Goat band sound. Be sure to stop by the Miller Sisters myspace site and say HOWDY and listen to the early forms of Rock N Roll that molded from their sound.
